Importing from 3rd party Services

Importing from Gmail

  1. Log into Gmail and click "Contacts"
  2. Click 'Export'
  3. Export the list you wish to import in Google's CSV format
  4. On GroupSpaces click on the green 'Add Members' button under the 'Members' tab
  5. Select 'Import Members from a File' and choose the file you have just saved

Importing from Excel

  1. Choose 'Save As' from the File menu in Excel
  2. In the 'Save as type' field choose 'CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv)'
  3. Give your file a name and click 'Save'
  4. Answer 'Yes' if you are asked to confirm that you want to save in this format
  5. Once you have saved the file, click on 'Add Members' under the 'Members' tab on GroupSpaces
  6. Select 'Import Members from a File' and select the file you have just saved

Importing from Mailman

  1. Log into Mailman as an administrator for your list
  2. Change the word "admin" to "roster" in your browser's address bar i.e. the URL should change from http://www.../mailman/admin/YOURLIST to http://www.../mailman/roster/YOURLIST
  3. Highlight all the e-mail addresses on this page
  4. On GroupSpaces click on 'Add Members' button which is found under the 'Members' tab in your management toolbar.
  5. Select 'Add E-mail Addresses' and copy-and-paste the highlighted e-mail addresses
  6. Click on the 'Add Members' button

Importing from Google Docs

  1. Open your spreadsheet on Google Docs

  2. Click on the 'File' menu in the top of your spreadsheet

  3. Select 'CSV' from the drop-down for the 'Download as' option

  4. On GroupSpaces click on the 'Add Members' page under the 'Members' drop-down menu

  5. Select 'Import Members from a File' and choose the file you have just saved

Importing from Herald

  1. Go to your mailing list management website (E.g. http://maillist.ox.ac.uk) and select "Admin Interface for List Owners"

  2. Log in using your list's username and password.

  3. Click "subscribers" against the list you wish to import

  4. Highlight all the email addresses in the list

  5. Go to your group on GroupSpaces, click "Manage" > "Add Members" > "Add E-mail Addresses"

  6. Copy and paste the highlighted email addresses in 3.

  7. Click "Add Members"

Importing from Microsoft Outlook Web Access

  1. Log into Outlook, click 'Contacts' and go to the Distribution List you wish to import
  2. Highlight the e-mail addresses (and names) of the people on the list
  3. On GroupSpaces, click on 'Add Members' button found by clicking on the 'Members' tab.
  4. Select 'Add E-mail Addresses' and copy-and-paste the highlighted e-mail addresses
  5. Click on the 'Add Members' button
  6. GroupSpaces will then pick out all the email addresses you pasted in and add them to the mailing list for your group.

Importing from Microsoft Outlook (Desktop)

  1. Click on 'Contacts' in Outlook
  2. Double click on the Distribution List you wish to import
  3. Choose 'Save As' from the File menu
  4. In the 'Save as type' field choose 'Text Only (*.txt)'
  5. Open the file and highlight all the e-mail addresses in it (don't worry if other text is also highlighted)
  6. On GroupSpaces, click on the 'Add Members' button under the 'Members' tab.
  7. Select 'Add E-mail Addresses' and copy and paste the contents of the .txt file

Importing from Yahoo Groups

  1. Click on 'Export' from within your Yahoo Group
  2. 'Save As' a .csv file
  3. Import to GroupSpaces using our 'Import Members from a File' page found on the 'Add Members' page
  4. Import the e-mail addresses and create columns for any other data you wish to store in your GroupSpaces database
  5. Review and Import.
